MEET EVELIEN BUSIO

My love for art, interiors and beauty began long before I was even aware of it.

My roots are in Geleen, in the south of the Netherlands, where I grew up in a home that, particularly for its time, was distinctive and thoughtfully designed. Nothing was there by coincidence. My mother had an extraordinary eye for beauty, quality and perfection. She noticed details others might overlook and had an instinctive ability to create atmosphere.

Looking back, I realise that this is where I learned to truly see.

Not simply to recognise what is beautiful, but to understand what makes something special. Proportion, colour, material, art and detail — and, above all, the feeling a space creates.

My professional path has never followed one straight line. My first studies were focused on education, followed later by studies at art academy and several coaching programmes. Different worlds, yet each taught me something that still shapes the way I work today: to observe, to listen, to understand people and to trust intuition.

Over the years, I have renovated, decorated and transformed both private homes and commercial spaces, with much of my work rooted in Limburg, Maastricht and the Belgian coast.

My personal style gradually became unmistakable: bold, extravagant, eclectic and unapologetically individual.

I am a perfectionist by nature. When I enter a space, I rarely see only what is there — I see what it could become. I imagine the materials, lighting, colours, art and objects coming together, often before anything has physically changed.

For me, an interior should never simply look beautiful.
You should feel it. See it. Experience it.

Over time, people increasingly began asking about my own interiors: where I found a particular artwork, piece of furniture or object, or whether I could bring that same feeling into their homes and businesses. That became one of the greatest confirmations of my instinctive approach to design.

ART, DISCOVERY & INSTINCT

Art has always been an essential part of my world.

I work with established artists and recognised names, but I am equally fascinated by the new generation. There is something incredibly exciting about discovering an artist before their work becomes widely known.

I am drawn to individuality — to work with its own signature, character and point of view. Quite often, I find myself noticing emerging talent early.

The same applies to interiors and design.

I have never been interested in simply following trends. I would rather sense what is coming next.

Today, my perspective is becoming increasingly international, with a particular focus on Marbella, Monaco and Maastricht — three very different places, each representing something that inspires me.

Maastricht for its history and European elegance.
Marbella for its international energy and expressive luxury.
Monaco for its refinement and timeless sophistication.

This is where BUSIO COLLECTABLES comes together.

Established names alongside emerging talent. Contemporary art beside vintage finds. Elegance with extravagance. Objects chosen not because everybody should like them, but because they possess character, quality and presence.

BUSIO COLLECTABLES was therefore not simply a business idea.

It is the natural continuation of a way of seeing that began in my childhood, developed through experience and eventually became entirely my own.

To see what others might overlook.
